About Mark HertsgaardMark Hertsgaard, an independent journalist based in San Francisco, is the author of five books that have been translated into sixteen languages. He covers climate change for Vanity Fair, The Nation, Time and Die Zeit and has written for many of the world's leading newspapers and magazines. His most recent books are The Eagle's Shadow (2001), Earth Odyssey (1998) and A Day in the Life: The Music and Artistry of the Beatles (1996). His forthcoming book is Living Through the Storm: Our Future Under Global Warming. TelevisionMark Hertsgaard is the political correspondent for the LinkTV satellite channel, where he hosts the weekly investigative news program Spotlight. Spotlight airs hard-hitting news and documentary programs from around the world, exposing Americans to information and perspectives mainstream television ignores or denigrates. Programming is generally sourced from BBC Panorama, BBC Correspondent, and small independent production houses. In addition to the regular programming, Spotlight is often used as a platform for studio interviews. Past guests have included Nobel Peace Prize winner Wangari Matthai, entertainer and activist Harry Belafonte and journalist John Pilger. RadioMark Hertsgaard has regularly contributed radio programming for National Public Radio (NPR). This includes political commentator for Living on Earth (to 2003) and more recently environment commentaries for Marketplace, the US's most-listened to business radio programming. Conference and Book Fair SpeakerMark Hertsgaard is a frequent speaker at conferences and book fairs. Recent events include the book fairs in Los Angeles, Miami, Frankfurt and Liepzig; and conferences in New York, San Francisco, Idaho, Oregon, Stuttgart, Florence and Amsterdam. OtherMark Hertsgaard has lectured at Harvard, Yale and Stanford and taught non-fiction writing at Johns Hopkins and the University of California at Berkeley School of Journalism.
